This site is all about my passion for narrow gauge railways and narrow gauge railway modelling. I model in 4mm narrow gauge and occasionally in 7mm narrow gauge. I have been interested in narrow gauge railways and modelling since way back in the mists of time (circa 1964) when I bought my first copy of Railway Modeller (second-hand at a school fete) and read an article about a layout based on the County Donegal.
I have recently discovered that the article featured the well-crafted model of the County Donegal by George Hanan. I was intrigued and then in 1966 I enjoyed a trip on the Talyllyn. I was hooked. The other influence over my modelling over the years has been Pendon, where the railways are apparently subservient to the landscape.
My logo features a scratch built freelance diesel based on typical 'Fowler' works locos. It uses a Caramal chassis. The loco is called Dan.
This is my first exhibition layout and is loosely based on a small mineral tramway that existed at the turn of the 20th century a few miles north of Yate.
The second part of this website looks at the actual buildings that have been produced in model form on the Yate Rocks Tramway.
I have also included a short section on my attempts at woodturning. I also hope to add a further section which will look at the very important features that any actual building needs to function and why, therefore, why model buildings should also include these details as far as is possible.
